As all of you may already know AMEN is the recognized
nursing affiliate division of the American Academy of
Aesthetic Medicine and continues to move forward to align itself with other professional
organizations. We are happy to announce our accepted membership
into two organizations devoted to issues on certification.
1. National Organization for Competency Assurance
(NOCA). Noca
was established in 1977 to serve as a clearinghouse for information
on the latest trends and issues of concern to practitioners and
organizations focused on certification, licensure, and human recourses
development. Noca is recognized as a leader in setting quality
standards for credentialing programs for all types of businesses.
2. American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS). ABNS was established
in 1991 to create uniformity in nursing certification and to increase
public awareness of the value of quality certification. ABNS maintains
a national peer review program for nursing specialty certifications.
Certification is still underway with more work
needing to be done if are to do it right (see some details in
your upcoming newsletter).
We did not realize the amount of work that needed to be done in
this area but are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
The tests are almost complete and are being prepared for validity
testing. We anticipate full completion by March/April 2006 (if
we do not run into any challenges with validity testing) and plan
to administer the first test around that time. AMEN members will
of course be able to sit for the test at a special rate. The test
will be administered and credentialed through the Credentialing
Board for Medical Esthetics (CBME), a non-profit affiliate arm
of AMEN, consisting of Physicians, Nurses, PA’s, Dentists,
and Regular Citizen Board members.
Sasha Parker, our President has done it again.
She was inducted into the Who’s Who in Education, Who’s Who in American
Women, and the Global Who’s Who Directory for 2006-2007 and
is being considered for inclusion into the Who’s Who in Medicine
and Science. She was recently notified of her Business Woman of
the Year award for 2005 (if you recall she went to Washington
DC to accept her 2004 award) and is still an elected member to the
National Business Advisory Council. Sasha has been named the leader
in the esthetic education industry and continues to be a key panelist
and speaker for the National Nurses in Business Association, University
of California Irvine, American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine and
most recently the Electrology Associations and Credentialing programs
in the U. S. Her commitment and passion are greatly appreciated.
Thank You Sasha!!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
